NEWS: Sway Calloway Responds to Kanye West’s TV Remarks

As discussions continue to play out over MTV’s yearly controversial Hottest MC’s List, Sway Calloway took the time to respond to Kanye’s recent comments made in regards to his current #7 spot.

Obviously annoyed, Kanye called HOT 97’s DJ Enuff and said, “I couldn’t believe it.  I gave Sway his first TV.  He came over to my crib in Newark, NJ.  I was living in Newark doing beats for Jay and Beans and all them and I was getting a new TV and I gave Sway his first TV….really I didn’t really want to even like call to talk about the #7 list.  I Just want to tell everybody that I gave Sway his first TV…and he needs to remember that.”

Sway recently took to his morning show Sway In The Morning on Shade 45 and said, “We made a master list, then we started debating.  Not everybody on the table agreed with every number of artist…whether you average it out or you do the voting….this is where it comes…this is our list….that’s why it’s only people from MTV.”  Be sure to tune in today at 4 p.m. EST. to Sway’s Rap Fix show streamed live at RapFix.MTV.com to catch a glimpse of Kanye’s previous TV that will sit in and co-host the show alongside Sway.  Special guests today will include Lil Kim, Talib Kweli and of course Ye’s old TV.

Peter Rosenberg gives his two cents as to why he feels MTV’s “Hottest MC’s” list is on point with having Big Sean over Kanye West.  Though it may be true that Big Sean has been pretty active over the last year, let’s not forget Kanye West is one of the greatest and the moment he drops another project the tide will shift.  He’s been touring a lot over seas, dealing with the whole situation with Kim, and the last thing he was working on was the G.O.O.D. music collaborative album Cruel Summer.

In typical Kanye West fashion, Yeezy recently took the stage in Amsterdam at the Heineken Music Hall to go off on another rant.  As the show progressed, Kanye began warning audience members of corporate branding and insisted that “creativity is the key”.  See a portion of Ye’ rant below.

immortal artwork kid cudiKiD CuDi recently shared with fans over the net a new track entitled “Congratulations”.  Here is what he had to say through a series of tweets.

“Ok, so heres what I did. I took one of my favorite bands MGMT’s song “Congratulations”, put it in reverse, sped it up, and produced over it.  Thank You so much to MGMT for clearing the sample. LOVE YOU GUYS!!”

Cudi’s upcoming album Indicud set to drop on April 23 and will include features from the likes of Kanye West, Pusha T, and Kendrick Lamar plus more.  This will be Cudi’s official follow up to 2010’s Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager.  Check out the new track below via the sound cloud stream.

This recording session spontaneously came about after a Big K.R.I.T. show where both rappers attended.  In the clip you can see the moment where Mannie & Mos linked up and took it to the studio that very night.  The track they are working on together in the clip is “OMFGOD”.  I’m already excited to see what comes about from this.
