With TDE’s front man dropping his official album today I had to follow it up and present the majority of Ab-Soul’s performance live from The Fox Theater. Soul recently did his thing in Pomona for the BET Music Matters tour. If you aren’t familiar with his work I suggest you pick up and check out Control System.

Just tells a fascinating story about how he met the guy who wrote Bobby Glen’s “Sounds Like A Love Song”, which he sampled for Jay-Z’s “Song Cry”, while the guy was driving him somewhere in LA and recognized his name on the paperwork. He also speaks on other artists that he’s sampled that he later met or spoke to and how they they benefited from the proceeds of the Hip-Hop tracks that resulted. Finally he speaks on the influence of esteemed composer Galt McDermot and some of the many artists that sampled his work.
