Plenty of eyebrows were raised recently at Trinidad James’ live show in New York.  The Atlanta native decided to stop midway through his set to go on rant about the decline of New York hip hop and spoke highly of his forthcoming album which is currently in the works for 2014.  James reflected on the city’s former dominance of the music industry with hometown acts like Dipset and didn’t bite his tongue when he blurted that the South runs New York hip hop.  In fact, James came off very disrespectful as he explained to the audience that East Coast rappers might as well claim to be from Atlanta.  In-between Trinidad’s offensive comments, the rapper also decided to briefly weigh in on Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” line about being “King of New York.”

Angie Martinez brings in Solange Knowles for an exclusive interview on her HOT 97 radio show.  The conversation kicks off with the two discussing Solange’s album artwork which was inspired by an artist she says she discovered in New Orleans.  Knowles continued by explaining she temporarily lived in the city and spoke highly of the culture.  The sultry songstress also shared a funny story of recruiting Beyonce and Kelly to handle a bully that had been giving her a hard time at school.  Before heading out, Knowles touched on her pro-spanking attitude and admitted she doesn’t eat meat.

Mariah Carey recently paid Angie Martinez a visit at HOT 97 in New York for an exclusive one-on-one interview.  In the clip shown, Carey is questioned about her time as a judge on the popular television show, American Idol, and explains to Martinez that the experience for her was like working in hell with satan.  It’s no secret the R&B diva bumped head numerous times with Nicki Minaj who also served also served as a judge on the show, however, Carey was careful not to reveal who she exactly was comparing to be Satan-like.  Another interesting point the songstress decided touch on was that she loved many of the contestants but was disappointed when certain acts wouldn’t progress in the competition due to politics rather than talent.

It’s all about strictly pimpin’ for Roc Marciano in his latest visual for “The Sacrifice” which is featured on the rapper’s new, The Pimpire Strikes Back, mixtape.  Decked out in a white polo headband and matching bath robe, Marciano kicks some slick rhymes over the Madlib produced instrumental about his stable of women and their sacrifice to give up the goods in order to stack up his cash.  Though Marciano’s flow at times feels like it takes a detour on and off beat, the New York bred rapper does a good job of playing up his laid-back persona to the camera and delivering enough witty lines about his female employees to keep your attention.

On Wednesday, Justin Timberlake and company pulled into Brooklyn, NY for a performance at the Barclays Center.  Currently out on tour in support of his The 20/20 Experience albums, the former Disney child star decided to treat crowd-goers to a special live cover of Bel Biv DeVoe’s classic party hit “Poison.”  With his band ready to go and background singers by his side, JT showed off some fancy choreographed foot work and showed he was more than willingly to have a little fun.
