Riff Raff Returns To Cable TV As An Artist, Talks Drake & Neon Icon + More on SKEE Live

Riff2

Controversial and oddball rapper Riff Raff made his debut on television as an artist in episode five of AXS TV and DJ Skee’s new show SKEE Live.  Known for his eccentric behavior, the Houston, Texas artist unapologetically made himself comfortable as he laid out across DJ Skee’s cocaine white colored couch, propped his elbows up and opened himself up to a series of questions.

Never one to disappoint, Riff’s over-the-top personality, down South accent and vibrant attire helped the rapper shine for the cameras when it was time to go live.  The special appearance also served as the rapper’s first time performing on the small-screen.  Decked out in a signature style cut off T-shirt, Tom Ford sunglasses, a chinchilla scarf, Jordan sneakers, board shorts and plenty of gaudy jewelry, Riff Raff stayed true to himself and never attempted to turn down his familiar theatrics in front of a television audience.

At one point in the interview, Riff decided to boast about his Versace inspired hair braids and decided to pass DJ Skee his fluffy chinchilla scarf to wear during live taping.  Always a good sport, the host also found himself eventually rocking Riff’s limited edition sunglasses while the rapper enthusiastically bragged about the missing tint on the bottom half of the lenses.  It was obvious Riff Raff was in a good mood and having fun as his attention at times drifted away from the topic at hand and his sidebar commentary occasionally detoured the conversation.

The rapper’s quirky yet charismatic manners continued as he admitted to having expensive spending habits and shared with audiences that he doesn’t believe in saving money.  In fact, Riff openly expressed his need for convenience and solitude after he joked about buying a private plane and a planet of his own if he could.  Interestingly enough, the former reality TV star also revealed that fans could potentially see his music crossover to an alternative genre in the future, as he continues to branch out and work with different artists.  Riff Raff also reassured viewers at home that he indeed has music he’s recorded with Drake but was vague on when any of it would actually surface.

After walking off set a bit prematurely, Riff made his way to L.A. Live’s Conga Room to close out the show with a live performance of “Raiders vs. Hawks” and his new hit “How To Be The Man” which boasts production from DJ Mustard.  Equipped with back flipping hype man and a confident demeanor, the colorful rapper brought his energy to the stage, exchanged daps and pounds with DJ Skee and thanked the crowd as he faded to black after a short return to television.

Episode five of SKEE Live was jam packed full of exclusive content and performances from legendary Bay Area rapper Too $hort and Riff Raff.  The evening was kicked off with a live performance from Too $hort at L.A. Live’s Congra Room with “Money On The Floor” and his classic hit “Blow The Whistle.”

Next, viewers at home were introduced to Sam Spiegel for this week’s “In The Lab.”  The Music producer who’s collaborated in the past with the likes of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Kanye west, M.I.A. and more, explains how he got his big break after collaborating with rapper Fat Lip.  Speigel also opens up on what he hopes to accomplish and music and shares his what inspires him.

DJ Skee finally got the opportunity to have a one-on-one with Too $hort where the rapper touched on his love for Hip Hop, his motivation for creating, his roots in production and much more.  $hort also speaks on Lady Gaga’s comment at the VMA’s where she recently revealed to the world that the two have a collaborative song releasing soon.  Speaking candidly, Too $hort addresses his caught on tape run-in with the law, the evolution of West Coast Hip Hop and takes the time to answer random questions from viewers at home via Twitter.

For “Up Close,” the segment featured a heartfelt and serious one-on-one with Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamal Charles.  The NFL star reflects on his humble beginnings, his work ethic and shares some of his achievements which made his dream of being drafted eventually a reality.  Charles speaks on the transition of his skills throughout his career and talks coming back from a potential career ending knee injury.

Asher Roth gave the world a taste of his new single “Apples & Bananas” off his recently released The Greenhouse Effect Vol. 2 mixtape.  In the spirit of keeping things simple, Asher delivers a short visual for the song’s first verse equipped with fruit costume wearing backup dancers.  Next up, Riff Raff joined DJ Skee in the studio for an interview where he reassures fans his new album is coming, promises collaborative material with Drake will eventually surface and reveals his goal is to land a spot on a tour with Justin Bieber.  Riff Raff also partakes in a round of random Twitter questions .

This week’s “Spotlight” segment featured the Punk Rock percussion band Street Drums Corps.  The band give insight behind their unique approach to their music and shares how they formed early on.  DJ Skee also hooked up one lucky viewer with a signed NFL jersey from Jamal Charles and took the time to question MTV’s music credibility before wrapping up the show.  Skee elaborated on the cable channel’s departure from music and points out they no longer contribute to the music industry.  Ironically, their biggest event of the year (VMA’s) revolves around issuing awards for video’s they don’t even showcase from artists who never get any support.

Riff Raff closes out another groundbreaking episode with an energy packed performance of “Raiders vs. Hawks” and his new DJ Mustard produced smash “How To Be A Man.”  Be sure to tune into SKEE Live every Tuesday at 10 p.m. (EST) and 7 p.m. (PST) only on AXS TV.

DJ Skee & AXS TV Bring Music Back To TV | True Mag

image

AXS TV and DJ Skee have successfully brought back music to television with their new show SKEE Live.  Approaching its fourth episode, the uncensored programming finds a perfect niche with the possibilities looking endless and the competition nonexistent.  Skee’s credibility also adds to the show’s appeal along with its original segments, weekly performances and live interviews with special guests.  Check out an excerpt from article below spotted over at True Magazine which gives a nice break down on the significance of the show and what it means to music.

Music has made its way back to television courtesy of AXS TV’s new show SKEE Live.  The brainchild and vision of DJ Skee, the hour long live show is composed of taped segments, interviews, guest performances and broadcasted from L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles.

Always at the forefront of popular culture, DJ Skee proves he can transition the success of his Skee.TV online network to the small-screen after inking a deal with AXS TV co-founder/chairman Mark Cuban for 12 episodes.  The ambitious businessman and hardworking entertainer, expands on his list of accomplishments by taking the initiative to fill the void MTV left behind after abandoning its music driven format in favor of reality television.

However, make no mistake, DJ Skee has set out to raise the bar in his pursuit of collectively gathering the attention of viewers at home for an hour every Tuesday evening.  With appealing original segments that feature popular tastemakers, athletes and relevant artists, Skee is just about calling in every favor and pulling out all the stops to deliver memorable programming free of censorship or genre bias.  With three episodes in the vault, fans have already been treated to candid interviews from some of Hip Hop’s biggest names like Action Bronson, Travis $cott, Tyga and Kendrick Lamar.  Even more impressive is SKEE Live‘s “Off The Top” segment which showcases an exclusive and original music video from a different artist every week.
