Action also skillfully works his way around not confirming or denying that he’s signed with TDE, explains what triggered him to slam a fan on stage in Boston earlier in the year and touches on his appreciation for Charles Bronson films.
Marco Polo is back with a new music video for “G.U.R.U.” which features rapper Talib Kweli and DJ Premier. Serving as a tribute to the late great emcee, Kweli demonstrates his crafty wordplay by lacing his bars with references to Gangstarr, Guru’s friendship with controversial producer Solar and so much more. The visual for “G.U.R.U.” is just as impressive as it showcases Talib performing to the camera as vintage clips of the legendary Hip Hop artist quickly cut in and out on the background. Polo’s new collaborative song is featured on the producer’s forthcoming PA2: The Director’s Cut project releasing on November 12.
DJ Premier sits down for a candid one-on-one interview with DJ Whoo Kid on satellite radio’s Shade 45. The legendary Hip Hop producer makes his first appearance on the Whoolywood Shuffle and discusses JAY Z, Tupac, Big L, Kanye West, Guru, Gang Starr and much more. Watch how it all went down as cameras were rolling for the interview which lasted nearly 30 minutes.
DJ Premier kicks his feet up with Mass Appeal and discusses the inspiration behind the group’s iconic logo and the creative direction that went into making their street hit “Mass Appeal.” According to Premo, the logo is the brainchild of Guru and Big Shug and was introduced to fans in 1990 on the artwork for Step In the Arena.
Fat Joe leaks a new cut titled “Your Honor” off his upcoming Darkside III mixtape. Produced by DJ Premier, the New York MC gets reacquainted with his gritty roots and shows off his lyrical skills. The sample based song finds Joe dropping introspective bars about his life and even addressing the judge who recently sentenced the rapper to four months in prison for tax evasion. Action Bronson also showcases a verse on the song which finds the Queens native fitting right in on Premo’s production. Tomorrow marks the three-year anniversary of the passing of Guru from Gangstarr. In celebration of his life and out of respect, Marco Polo releases “G.U.R.U.” which features DJ Premier and the other half of Gangstarr, DJ Premier. The track also serves as a dedication to Guru’s memory and accomplishments in the music game. “G.U.R.U” is also the first official single from Marco Polo’s upcoming album PA2: The Director’s Cut which will be released to the public on July 2013.
