EME Takeover catches up with DJ Premier at the Global Spin Awards and gets an exclusive update on his forthcoming collaborative album with rapper Nas.  Premo clarifies that the Queensbridge emcee is currently in the studio working on his last album with Def Jam and reassures viewers that the duo will be back in action following the project’s release.  DJ Premier also took a trip down memory lane as he reflected on his contributions to Nas’ classic LP, Illmatic, and elaborated on their long-time friendship.  Before the visual fades to black, the legendary DJ-producer speaks on who he’s been busy collaborating with as of late such as Slaughterhouse, M.O.P., Joey Bada$$ and more.

Action Bronson catches up with splash!-Mag in Germany for splash! Festival.  The Queens bred emcee gets the chance to lend his commentary on a few random clips that get pulled up during his one-on-one interview.  Check out Bronsolini speak on being a fan of Bret Hart as he watches vintage WWF footage of a match between the Hart Foundation and The Rockers.  Next up, Bronson speaks on his first rap visual posted back in 2009 which features the rapper doing his thing over AZ’s “The Come Up” instrumental.  Action also skillfully works his way around not confirming or denying that he’s signed with TDE, explains what triggered him to slam a fan on stage in Boston earlier in the year and touches on his appreciation for Charles Bronson films.

VIDEO: Marco Polo – G.U.R.U. Feat. Talib Kweli & DJ Premier

Marco Polo is back with a new music video for “G.U.R.U.” which features rapper Talib Kweli and DJ Premier.  Serving as a tribute to the late great emcee, Kweli demonstrates his crafty wordplay by lacing his bars with references to Gangstarr, Guru’s friendship with controversial producer Solar and so much more.  The visual for “G.U.R.U.” is just as impressive as it showcases Talib performing to the camera as vintage clips of the legendary Hip Hop artist quickly cut in and out on the background.  Polo’s new collaborative song is featured on the producer’s forthcoming PA2: The Director’s Cut project releasing on November 12.

DJ Premier sits down for a candid one-on-one interview with DJ Whoo Kid on satellite radio’s Shade 45.  The legendary Hip Hop producer makes his first appearance on the Whoolywood Shuffle and discusses JAY Z, Tupac, Big L, Kanye West, Guru, Gang Starr and much more.  Watch how it all went down as cameras were rolling for the interview which lasted nearly 30 minutes.

Fat Joe leaks a new cut titled “Your Honor” off his upcoming Darkside III mixtape.  Produced by DJ Premier, the New York MC gets reacquainted with his gritty roots and shows off his lyrical skills.  The sample based song finds Joe dropping introspective bars about his life and even addressing the judge who recently sentenced the rapper to four months in prison for tax evasion.  Action Bronson also showcases a verse on the song which finds the Queens native fitting right in on Premo’s production.  Take a listen to the audio/video stream below and look out for Darkside III dropping on August 26..

This was a VHS Promo sent out by Chrysalis Records at the time the legendary Hip Hop group, Gang Starr was getting ready to release their 2nd album, “Step In The Arena” (Released 1/15/91)
This video tape has been sitting in a box in my studio for years..I’ve always wanted to share it with Hip Hop fans who may have never had a chance to see it. It includes rare footage of Dj Premier & Guru in the studio working on their album and also a rare interview.  Big, big respect to my friend DJ Premier.  R.I.P. GURU / Keith Edward Elam (July 17, 1961 — April 19, 2010)

artworks-000045830668-jfq07f-t500x500Tomorrow marks the three-year anniversary of the passing of Guru from Gangstarr.  In celebration of his life and out of respect, Marco Polo releases “G.U.R.U.” which features DJ Premier and the other half of Gangstarr, DJ Premier.  The track also serves as a dedication to Guru’s memory and accomplishments in the music game.  “G.U.R.U” is also the first official single from Marco Polo’s upcoming album PA2: The Director’s Cut which will be released to the public on July 2013.  Check out what Marco Polo had to say about the track and Guru below.
