youngdro

Playing off the theme of High Times magazine, rapper Young Dro unveils the official artwork to his upcoming High Times LP which fans can pick up on October 15.  Needless to say, the idea is different and Dro does a solid job of embodying the publication’s familiar vibe as he poses for the camera with a stogie in his hand.  It also appears Young Dro is prepared to challenge his former success as the cover displays the questions “Can he make the biggest comeback in hip-hop history?” and “Is lyrical rap back?”  Some of the musical features listeners will be treated to include T.I., Doe B, Problem, Spodee, Lil C, FKi, DJ Mustard and more.

In a country where “speaking black” has been a hindrance in almost every profession but rap, do you see how a white person making money in rap by adopting this accent could ruffle feathers?
If you’re mad about it and you’re a black person then start a rap career and give it a go, too. I’m not taking anyone’s spot, so make yourself a mixtape. Or maybe if you’re black, start singing like a country singer and be a white person. I don’t know. Why is it such a big deal? This is the entertainment industry. It’s not politics. You should be more concerned about the message, not the voices saying it.

AUDIO: Pusha T- Nosetalgia Feat. Kendrick Lamar

pushat3

Pusha T reveals the artwork to accompany his latest single titled “Nosetalgia” featuring Compton native Kendrick Lamar.  Continuing with Pusha’s minimal creative direction, the artwork sports a black silhouette of the G.O.O.D. Music rapper against a white backdrop.  Check out what King Push had to say to Hip Hop DX on the matter via the short excerpt below.

“We gave two perspectives [on the song]. [Kendrick Lamar] was giving more, looking from the inside of his home and how his family and his crusade through the drug epidemic affected him. I was giving you the junior high, high school start, showing you what it was and where I was at.”

UPDATE: The official audio has leaked and can be found below.

ARTWORK: Meek Mill – Dreamchasers 3

Kanye West just took to his twitter to reveal the DONDA inspired cover artwork for Pusha T’s upcoming My Name Is My Name LP.  Designed by Joe Perez, the album features two simple variations both featured in black and white.  Sporting nothing but a functional bar code and a parental advisory label, the first option gives fans an interactive option by being able to scan the bar code with a mobile phone and place a pre-order.  For the second cover, an interesting photo of Pusha T blacked out and resembling the image of a silhouette graces the front as the G.O.O.D. Music MC stares at the sky.  Look out for My Name Is My Name to drop on October 8.
