VIDEO: Snoop Dogg Talks ‘Doggystyle’ 20 Years Later + Doggystyle: The Samples

November 23 marks the 20th anniversary for Snoop Dogg’s classic debut album, Doggystyle.  To mark the special occasion, the Doggfather decided to revisit his monumental project and showcase all the samples that were used to put it together in one special mix.  In fact, Snoop does the honors of mixing the Doggystyle: The Samples himself under his alternative alias, DJ Snoopadelic.  Check out the sneak peek also provided which finds the legendary West Coast emcee in the studio with Daz Dillinger by his side as they reflect on the importance of Doggystyle on Hip Hop and share some commentary.

 

VIDEO: Rhythm Roulette w/ Marco Polo

Producer Marco Polo links up with Mass Appeal to shoot the newest episode of their “Rhythm Roulette” series.  Live from Brooklyn’s The Thing, Polo brings cameras along as he goes digging for three record albums and ultimately ends up with only three singles as luck would have it.  Watch as the Marco heads back to his home studio and attempts to cook up a dope instrumental in front of the camera.

Statik Selektah sits down with Mass Appeal for a new episode of Rhythm Roulette.  Watch as the Mass Appeal cameras follow Statik on a random crate digging mission as he selects three random vinyls with the objective of using a selection from only one to create an original beat.  After making his blindfolded choices, the Showoff producer makes his way back to the lab to see what he can come up with.

In the second installment of Rhythm Roulette we linked up with Grammy award-winning producer 88 Keys. From a Steve Martin standup record with no music to a hardcore noise metal record, 88 wasn’t given much to work with but stuck with the challenge. Watch out for more episodes to come.
