JAY Z’s Life+Time’s drops a new Made In America recap video that compiles a bunch of different fun moments that went down last weekend. For anyone who’s interested, the soundtrack to the visual is called “Time Is But A Moment” (Original Mix)” featuring Arama by Jesse Rose.
JAY Z joins in on the festivities for the 2013 Made In America Festival and watches Deadmau5 during his DJ set. Hov grabs a seat with Elliott Wilson and pops a few bottles while puffing on a stogie during the high energy performance. Director Ron Howard and Showtime release a trailer to the upcoming Made In America documentary which goes behind-the-scenes and chronicles JAY Z’s groundbreaking festival. The film is set to debut at the Toronto International Film Festival going down next weekend and finally will hit the small-screen for viewers on October 11. Since the release of Big Sean’s “Control” which originally was set to be showcased on his upcoming Hall Of Fame LP, the topic of discussion in the world of Hip Hop has been Kendrick Lamar’s guest verse. All over the internet and across the vast lands of social media, people have been weighing in with their thoughts behind the TDE rapper putting himself on a pedestal above his peers.
“I’m usually homeboys with the same n—s I’m rhyming wit’/but this is Hip Hop and them n—s should know what time it is/ and that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big KRIT, Wale/Pusha T, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, Drake/Big Sean, Jay Electron’, Tyler, Mac Miller/I got love for you all but I’m tryna murder you n—s’/Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you n—s/They don’t wanna hear not one more noun or verb from you n—s/what is competition,” raps the Compton, Calif. native.
Adding insult to injury, Kendrick’s lyrics also include: “I’m important like the Pope/I’m Muslim on pork/I’m Makaveli’s offspring/I’m the king of New York/King of the coast, one hand, I juggle them both.”
Needless to say, Lamar has single handedly sparked the fire that the industry needed in order to shift everyone’s interest back towards lyricism. With everyone so busy turning up and focusing their efforts on “getting to the money,” artists and fans alike got too comfortable with the direction that Hip Hop found itself going in. Though rappers have always continued to take stabs at one another from time to time, it’s been awhile since Hip Hop’s seen a respected lyricist embody that competitive spirit of the past and deliver something good enough to put our attention’s in a chokehold.
Last Friday Jay Z and Justin Timberlake’s Legends of The Summer tour stopped at Sun Life stadium in Miami. Hov decided to make the night a little more special when he linked up with Rick Ross for the first live performance of their collaborative track “FuckWitMeYouKnowIGotIt” which is featured on Jigga Man’s Magna Carta…Holy Grail LP. JAY Z and Dame Dash finally put their differences aside and reconciled earlier this week at a celebration in New York that Dash only described via his instagram as “Chaka’s party.” After the release of the release of Magna Carta…Holy Grail, a short Instagram video of Dame vibing out to Jay’s latest work and praising it, only reignited questions for Jigga as he made his radio promotional runs. After being outspoken and reassuring listeners that he would always have love for Dame, it almost felt like the former business associates were on the brink of squashing past issues.
