Blu and producer Nottz combine forces for a new 6-track EP entitled Gods In The Spirit.  Take a listen to the first single premiered off the project with the sample based “Boyz II Men” featuring female rapper Nitty Scott, MC.  The artwork provided to accompany the new single was designed by Skam2? who is responsible for the A Tribe Called Quest’s Beats, Rhymes and Life LP cover.  The collaborative Gods In The Spirit EP is due to release on October 22.

Former State Property MC Young Chris and eOne music release the Philly native’s latest song with “I’m Alive.”  The track is set to be featured on the rapper’s upcoming Vital Signs EP which is due to drop on November 19.  It’s been a little while since listeners have heard anything new from Chris but from the sound of it the slick wordsmith still has what it takes to impress.  Over a melodic and smooth instrumental, Young Chris drops his familiar tough guy bars and breaks down the every day woes of street life.

On the Deeper EP, Gibbs showcases the yin and yang of heartbreak and anger on the title track, in a lovelorn narrative that meshes perfectly with the weepy strings and insistent rhythm of Madlib’s beat. We haven’t heard something like this in rap music since Nas’ “One Love,” nearly twenty years ago. The b-side, “Harolds” – exclusive to this EP – gives Gibbs a chance to ride some low down Beat Konducta-fueled funk in a nostalgic ode to the Chicago chicken-shack that served as the backdrop to many of his seminal life experiences.

Piñata is scheduled for February 4, 2014 on Madlib Invazion. The album will feature Raekwon, Scarface, Danny Brown, Earl Sweatshirt, Domo Genesis, Joey Bada$$, Ab Soul, BJ The Chicago Kid, Meech of Flatbush Zombies, Casey Veggies, Mac Miller, Polyester the Saint, G-Wiz.

Brooklyn emcee Joey Bada$$ recently performed out in Toronto for NXNE at the Yonge and Dundas Square and treated the crowd to a new track produced by the masked avenger MF Doom.  Backed by DJ and producer Statik Selektah, Joey debuted the song which also features Pro Era member Kirk Knight. The new banger will be featured on Joey’s upcoming Summer Knights EP dropping very soon.
