NEWS: Rick Ross Issues Apology Over “U.O.E.N.O.” Rape Lyrics

Reebok-Rick-Ross

Rick Ross finally decided it was time to speak up on the matter after recently being dropped by Reebok as an official endorser for the company.  Below is Ross’ official statement and apology regarding the matter.  I have to be honest, I’m disappointed that he didn’t include his signature grunt at the end within his text. Huuu!

“Before I am an artist, I am a father, a son, and a brother to some of the most cherished women in the world. So for me to suggest in any way that harm and violation be brought to a woman is one of my biggest mistakes and regrets. As an artist, one of the most liberating things is being able to paint pictures with my words. But with that comes a great responsibility. And most recently, my choice of words was not only offensive, it does not reflect my true heart. And for this, I apologize. To every woman that has felt the sting of abuse, I apologize. I recognize that as an artist I have a voice and with that, the power of influence. To the young men who listen to my music, please know that using a substance to rob a woman of her right to make a choice is not only a crime, it’s wrong and I do not encourage it. To my fans, I also apologize if I have disappointed you. I can only hope that this sparks a healthy dialogue and that I can contribute to it.”

NEWS: Reebok Drops Rick Ross

RossReebokReebok decided today was good as any other day to terminate their endorsement deal with MMG front man Rick Ross.  It looks like Ross’ previous pro-rape lyrics he decided to spit on Rocko’s “U.O.E.N.O.” just didn’t sit well with the head honchos over at Reebok.  Women’s group, Ultraviolet, recently set up shop outside one of Reebok’s stores in Manhattan to protest against the rapper and raise public awareness.  However, after the song’s release in January several petitions were initiated and issued by different women’s groups and rape victims.   Again, this all comes as a result of Ross’ lyrics where he raps:

“Put Molly all up in her champagne, she ain’t even know it, I took her home and I enjoyed that, she ain’t even know it.”

Officials for the sneaker brand stated today “Reebok holds our partners to a high demand and we expect them to live up to the values of our brand.  Unfortunately, Rick Ross has failed to do so.”

In all fairness to Ross it should be noted that he did state it was all a misunderstanding and that his verse was misinterpreted.
