SKEE LIVE episode 14 was extra amped this week as Bad Boy artist Machine Gun Kelly stopped by the AXS TV studio for an exclusive interview with DJ Skee and to hit the stage at L.A. Live’s Conga Room.  The Cleveland native got fans excited with his undeniable stage presence as he kicked off the show with an emotional performance of “Breaking News” and “Diamonds and Gold.”  After heading back up to the studio to sit down with Skee and with bourbon whiskey in his hand, MGK decided to bare his soul with viewers as he got into details behind his roots in Ohio, being raised by an abusive father and much more.  The eccentric rapper stressed to DJ Skee that he considers himself a down to earth person and regular just like anyone else.

MGK also reflected on his early days in Cleveland out on the block and having to freestyle and pave his own lane in order to earn respect in his neighborhood.  Basketball was also the topic of discussion as MGK spoke with DJ Skee about his relationship with the Cleveland Cavaliers and indirectly hinted that perhaps Lebron James could eventually return to the team down the road.  As the conversation continued, Kelly made it a point to stress his appreciation for all of his diehard fans and gave them all the credit for his success.  The rapper went on to even proclaim that he would take five diehard fans over 5,000 from Coachella any day because of their devotion to the music and cause.  Before hitting the stage to close out the episode with “Swing Life Away,” MGK shared his disgust for the media, a few details behind a potential part in the next Jackass film and made it very clear that he’s not like most rappers today who have interests in strictly material items

This week’s “spotlight” segment showcased Matisyahu.  The Los Angeles based artist touched on how Bob Marley’s “No Woman No Cry” inspired his early Reggae sound along with his passion to break down barriers in music.  “Up Close” featured LRG’s Robert Wright who gave viewers insight behind how the infamous clothing brand came together and so much more.  Opening up to cameras for the first time about deceased friend and former business partner Jonas Bevacqua, Wright addressed how the two were able to build the company’s brand and what needed to be done in order to transition it after the devastating loss.

“Off The Top” showcased the talents of Chris Webby who proclaimed himself the Jesse Pinkman of rap after delivering a Breaking Bad themed music video for his new original song.  Before calling it a wrap on episode 14 and sending things back over to MGK on stage, Skee took the opportunity to address the current evolution of Hip Hop and the blurring of racial lines.  The AXS TV host pointed out that the evening’s lineup unintentionally consisted of strictly Caucasian talent and gave a breakdown of just how far artists have come today in the world of Hip Hop.
